The ROEN company, leader in the production of technical fabrics, has recently patented an innovative system for the thermal insulation of buildings. Such system consists in using a fabric produced by ROEN which accomplishes the function of thermal insulating board, rather than using the classical thermal insulators. The fabric realized by ROEN is a sponge cloth made of 100% special polyester fibre with a height of 103 centimetres (tubular) and a weight of 300 grams per metre (weight = 150 grams per square metre). This fabric has been certified by the Giordano Institute which has stated the following characteristics:

1. Lamda (thermal conductibility) = 0,042 Watt/metres* Kelvin degrees (valid both for a single layer of fabric as for 5 layers)
2. R (thermal resistance) = thickness/Lamda = 0,032/0,042 = 0,76 M2*K/Ws (valid for 5 layers of fabric)
3. U (ex K - thermal transmittance) = 1/R = 1,315 W/M2*Ks (valid for 5 layers of fabric)

N.B.: the values R and U vary upon the number of layers of fabric inserted inside the building surfaces, while the Lamda value doesn’t change with the number of the layers of fabric.

This insulating system has already been concretely used on civil residences and the result is the following:

• with an external temperature of 37 degrees we have recorded an internal temperature of 19 degrees (above all for the ventilated chimney under the tiles)
• with an external temperature of 0 degrees we have recorded an internal temperature of 20 degrees.

Following to the above results we can affirm that the our patented system constitutes a good method for the thermal insulation of buildings and is very effective for what concerns the energy saving.
Besides, our product is much more convenient if compared to similar products actually present on the market: the price of the insulation fabric is of 3 Euro per kilo, and, considering that in a square metre is used just 1 and a half kilo of fabric, the price is of 4,5 Euro per square metre (for a 5 layers application otherwise the price per square metre maybe also lower).
We want to underline that with the application of 22 layers of ROEN fabric you reach an excellent insulation: the R value is equal to 3,14 and the U value equal to 1/3,14 = 0,318, which are excellent results as it concerns the 311 law by decree of 2006 and the parameters that must be reached in 2010 (please refer to the general prospect of the law).
To give you a complete idea, the 22 layers weight about 6,6 kilos per square metre and therefore the general price is of 19,80 Euro + VAT.
